Don’t let your elevators get caught in the cold.

Did you know that cold temperatures can affect how your hydraulic elevator runs? Oil expands and contracts with temperature and since this is the main driving force of the elevator, drastic changes in temperatures can affect the ride quality of your unit.

The oil temperature should be kept at 100 – 120 degrees Fahrenheit for best performance. If the oil falls below this for any sustained amount of time, the oil becomes thick and gummy causing sluggish valve operation which can lead to bumpy rides, rough starts and unnecessary strain on equipment.screenshot_ice-1

Well maintained machine room temperatures can reduce your chances of your hydraulic oil being affected by cold weather. Insulating and controlling the ambient temperature of the room that houses your hydraulic tank, will help keep your oil’s desired temperature.

A tank heater can also be added. This is a simple inexpensive electrical coil that is submerged in the oil to ensure optimum temperature.

With proper oil and maintenance, your elevators, should be able to handle the ever changing weather conditions. Call today for a free assessment of your elevator equipment or maintenance quote!

The Texas Triangle

Fun Facts:

  1. Did you know that EMR’s first plans of deciding where to expand, was originally inspired from the southwest airline napkin?
  2. Did you also know, the EMR logo seen today, known as directional arrows, were also  inspired by the symbolic napkin?

“It’s not about the ideas. It’s about what you do with the them.”

The story goes back to the early 90’s when EMR dared to dream big and set out on a voyage to venture outside their local areas. They set sail into territory uncharted by the small elevator business and dominated by the OEM market. Vice President Larry Evans and his right hand man Frank Boyer were traveling on Southwest Airlines along with company President, Hope Evans. They were doing what every business man and woman does, dreaming of the future and mapping it out. They ordered their drinks and it was served on what was then, the original southwest cocktail napkin like you see above. The humble napkin served as a symbol for the most profitable airlines in history and served as the symbolic catapult for the largest independent elevator company in Texas today – EMR Elevator, Inc.

What they drank is not important, but what is known, is that at some point Larry Evans picked up a napkin and said, “this is where we need to expand our territory”. He then traced the dots on that cocktail napkin that represented Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and wrote in EMR. “Boyer said this is where we start”.

And so their voyage begins. Over the next twenty plus years, the Texas owned company has grown throughout the Texas Triangle’s metropolitan areas and many surrounding cities. Through perseverance, hard work and faith in God, EMR is proud to be a part of the “Economic Engine of the Southwestpic-of-texas-triange

“Texas Triangle is the great economic engine that serves Texas and much of the southwestern United States. Outlined by Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Houston and San Antonio, with Austin just inside the Dallas-San Antonio line. These four metro areas are the economic heart of Texas, holding 68 percent of its jobs and earning 73 percent of its income.”

Everything you need to know about your elevators

Welcome to our new blog! “Your Elevators” is created and maintained by our extraordinary team at EMR Elevator, Inc. We are here to share  what goes on behind the scenes of an independent elevator company, from the office to the field. You’ll find fun facts, news and possibly some interviews with some amazing people. We hope our articles are informative, interesting and fun to read.

EMR is the LARGEST Independent Elevator company in the State of Texas. This is a huge and almost impossible accomplishment in the elevator world.

Question; what does being the “Largest Independent Elevator company” really mean?

  • To be considered the largest, means, we have a lot of people on board from the owners to the managers, who believe in the same values of hard work, good ethics, and provide quality service to a broad spectrum of clients in the Texas Triangle and surrounding cities.
  • To be Independent, means not only are we free from the outside control of investment groups who currently dominate large elevator companies and have no personal, hands-on involvement with the elevator work. We are also free from the limitations placed on large OEM companies involving the installation of proprietary equipment.

Since elevators are for everyone, service and maintenance is forever important. It is in our best interest to help the most important people, the equipment owners, understand their units and their rights. Well-informed owners and managers make good decisions in their business operations, their budgeting goals, and their selection of great service providers who can give quality service, from the management to the guys in the field!
